Sustainability at Mad About Nature
Better choices, wherever we can
For us, sustainability isn't about being perfect. It's about making better choices wherever we can, and being mindful of the impact our products have on the environment.
Mad About Nature started with a simple belief: that natural, thoughtfully made products are better for people and better for the planet. Since 2006, we've been making our soaps and skincare in small batches, using carefully selected ingredients and keeping our packaging to a minimum.
We're a small, family-run business, and that means we can make considered choices about what goes into our products, how they're made and how they're packaged.
🌿 Thoughtfully chosen ingredients
We believe that what's inside our products matters.
Our traditional cold-process soaps are made using plant-based oils and natural ingredients, with many of our soaps coloured and scented using natural botanicals, clays and essential oils.
We don't use palm oil, SLS, EDTA or parabens in our soaps, and we avoid unnecessary artificial ingredients.
Our products are never tested on animals, and we offer a wide range of vegan-friendly products alongside options containing ingredients such as beeswax or goat's milk.
🧼 Made the traditional way
Our soaps are made using the traditional cold-process method.
This slower method allows the natural glycerine created during soapmaking to remain in the finished bar. Rather than stripping everything back and adding synthetic ingredients, we let the natural soapmaking process do the work.
Our soaps are made in small batches, giving us the opportunity to take care over every bar rather than treating them as mass-produced products.
📦 Less packaging, less waste
We don't believe a bar of soap needs layers of plastic and unnecessary packaging.
Where possible, our products are packaged using materials that can be recycled, composted or reused. Our soap bars are kept deliberately simple, with minimal packaging and no unnecessary plastic.
We also choose packaging for our other products with its end-of-life in mind, using materials such as paper, cardboard, glass and aluminium where practical.
And when we send your order, we try to reuse suitable packaging materials rather than automatically buying something new.
♻️ Plastic-free where we can
Reducing single-use plastic is an important part of what we do.
From our soap packaging to our range of reusable and plastic-free bathroom accessories, we're continually looking for ways to reduce the amount of plastic associated with our products.
You won't always find the most elaborate packaging on a Mad About Nature product — and that's intentional.
We'd rather put our time and money into what's inside the package than into packaging that's going to be thrown away.
🌱 Small changes add up
Sustainability isn't just about the ingredients or packaging.
It's also about the choices we make as a business.
We make our products in small batches to help minimise unnecessary waste. We source ingredients and packaging thoughtfully, and we're always looking for ways to improve how we work.
We're not going to claim that everything we do has zero environmental impact. We don't think that's realistic.
Instead, we're committed to continually looking at what we can do better.
💚 A little bit of Mad About Nature
We started Mad About Nature because we wanted to make products that were kinder, simpler and more natural.
That principle still guides us today.
Natural ingredients. Handmade products. Less packaging. Less plastic. No palm oil. No animal testing.
We're proud to be a small, family-run business making things the way we believe they should be made — with care for the products, the people who use them and the world around us.
